Here we showcase previous alumni from the Department of Mathematics and the great things they went on to do after finishing their degrees!

Farnam Jahanian, PhD

Dr. Jahanian is currently the Vice President of Research at Carnegie Mellon University! He received his Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, and System Design from UTSA in 1982 and went on to do his PhD at the University of Texas at Austin in 1989.




Carol Dyas, PhD

Dr. Dyas is currently the Assistant Department Chair here at the UTSA Department of Mathematics! She was the first from UTSA to receive her Masters in Mathematics with a concentration in Mathematics Education in 1987 and went on to receive her PhD at the University of Texas at Austin.


James Sellers, PhD

Dr. Sellers has been approved as the next secretary for the Mathematical Association of America! He received his Bachelors degree in Mathematics from UTSA in 1987 and went on to receive his PhD at Pennsylvania State University in 1992.
